The Waiting Rooms
Broadland
Couples seeking a base for exploring Norfolk's countryside will find The Waiting Rooms an unusual choice. This one-bedroom property occupies a former railway station waiting room, now standing alone with direct access onto Marriott's Way – a 26-mile footpath and cycle route that follows a disused railway line between Norwich and Aylsham. The setting means you step straight from the garden onto miles of traffic-free trails through open countryside, linking to further networks across the region.
Inside, everything sits on the ground floor: a living and dining space with Freeview TV, a kitchen with electric cooking and all basics including a washing machine, bedroom with a zip-and-link super king bed (or two singles if preferred), and a bathroom with shower over the bath. An enclosed lawned garden with patio furniture provides outdoor space. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included. You have private parking for two cars, and dogs stay free if you're bringing one along. The village of Cawston is a short walk away for a café, shop and pub.
Wroxham, the Norfolk Broads' boat hire hub, lies 14 miles off; Cromer beach and the North Norfolk coast are 16 miles distant. National Trust properties at Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall are also within reach. No smoking indoors.
