A 28-room hotel in Burntisland, Fife, known for hearty breakfasts and puddings, plus a pool, sauna and sea views.

About The Bay Hotel

Breakfast and pudding tend to get the most attention at The Bay Hotel, a 28-room hotel on Burntisland Road in Burntisland, Fife. The kitchen's cooking is a genuine highlight of a stay here, served alongside the usual restaurant and bar offering, with a garden on hand for quieter moments outside mealtimes.

Rooms are comfortable and well kept, many with sea views over the Fife coast, and come with drinks in room and air conditioning. Beyond the bedrooms, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym, along with a games room, making it a reasonable option for a few days spent mostly on site. Meeting rooms and wedding facilities extend its use for groups and celebrations, and porter, concierge and laundry services are all available, though staff helpfulness has been inconsistent according to some visitors.

Burntisland itself is close to Kinghorn, and Edinburgh Zoo is within reach for a day out. Golf and fishing are both nearby for those wanting to get outdoors, and there are pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area for evenings away from the hotel. Free on-site parking is provided throughout.

Our suite was cute and comfortable, with a gorgeous view of the water. The onsite restaurant was good and had a variety of choices. The staff was all very kind. The signs (or actually lack of signs) made the hotel a bit confusing to navigate. The entrance that looks like the main entrance is not, and we had to walk around the building to find where we were to check in. Also, the website makes it sound as if the exercise facilities are included in the stay, but there is actually a separate charge to use them.

Decided to book here at the last minute just for an overnight away in April 2026. Reception staff 💯, Bar Staff💯 Suite 99.8% lol-Deduction for the bed & square toilet seat on an oval toilet bowl. Views from our Suite were amazing, although it was cloudy,a little bit of sunshine helped. Photo of all 3 bridges on the background. Great little fridge no problems at all working it. Tea/Coffee plentiful. Shortbread,& mints in room. Had a quick snack in bar that evening, not hungry so this was easiest. Drinks✔️ Shop NOT open😕 Didn't get a chance to use facilities pool, sauna etc, all the more reason for me to return 😄 Breakfast was lovely, poached eggs, toast & bacon😁 Would definitely return💯

The hotel is very clean and the food is lovely. The restaurant and bar staff are particularly helpful and friendly. The only fault I have to mention is that in the bathroom the shower is over the bath. There are no grab rails and the bath is very slippy. My husband had a really bad fall in the bath and cut his hand badly and the bottom of his back is badly bruised. After speaking to reception we were told that you have to request a slip mat. They don't put a mat in your bathroom despite knowing the bath is very slippy.
