Stayed for one night after a long travel day - and it was the perfect oasis of calm! We appreciated the convenience for the station. The room was wonderful and comfortable - and really quiet (and there was a lot going on with a wimbledon screen/picnic outside and the football going on until 2am - so we did test how well soundproofed it all was). Breakfast buffet was generous and really tasty - and I was amazed to find english muffins on the sideboard! Hope we can come back again some time.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms were clean, the whole building was decorated tastefully, and the staff were friendly & efficient. The location is perfect for the train station, but a bit of a walk from the centre. There weren’t any restaurants around the hotel, which was irritating after a long day. Overall our stay was fine, but the hotel lacks some details, especially for a four star: There weren’t any hooks for towels in the bathroom. The quality of extras was low - eg. Cheap toilet roll & tissues, no individual complimentary toiletries, no coffee machine (which you get even at budget hotels nowadays!) & low quality & poor selection of teas. My biggest issue was that we had a wonderful super king size bed, but the pillows & duvet on it were only for a king, so they were much too small! The duvet only just covered the very top of the mattress! I know this isssue has been reported in other people’s reviews, dating back two years at least, & clearly hasn’t been addressed yet, which is extremely poor customer service levels. Room service menu was limited (5 options) and no mini bar, which I expect of a four star hotel. Overall it was a pleasant hotel, in an ok location, which really lacked attention to detail.

Possible Bed Bug Infestation and a Duty Manager who does not care. We have had the worst experience ever at the Clayton Hotel Cambridge We arrived on Friday 24th July 2026 and booked into our room. The bed base was dirty which led me to pull back the covers and look at the matress. All four corners of the matress had clusters of black marks which looked very like a bed bug Infestation. I called reception and the Duty Manager Antoine was sent to our room, he apologised and went to get keys to a new room. We were grateful as we had just driven to Cambridge from Edinburgh and we're exhausted, expected for dinner in 1 hour and had a Wedding to attend the following day. We entered our new room and i decided to check the bed, which was worse! Black dots clustered in all four corners but much worse than the first room. I called reception again and 20 minutes later Antoine appeared, he apologised for taking so long and explained that he had been to personally check a third room for us. He said all he had to do was get us keys, he left to do so and we decided to wait in the hallway. Moments later he came out of the room looking startled to see us waiting then said he still had to go and get us keys. Another 10 mins later he returned and i asked him to stay whilst I checked the room, the matress was the worst of the three. I then challenged him as he said to us previously that he had "personally checked the bed" which he obviously had not. Antoine then told us there was nothing more he could do and suggested that we find accommodation elsewhere! He agreed to refund our stay but advised that it could take 3 to 5 working days for us to receive a refund. I asked for a refund for the £54 that we had spend on parking to stay at the hotel and he refused. We were left looking for a hotel at 5pm on a very busy Friday night and everything was fully booked. We had to drive 30 mins out of Cambridge to the only hotel that had a room left. The biggest issue for us was not the initial brd bug Infestation but the way we were dealt with. No solution was offered and although Antoine was polite he lacked any empathy, care and offered no solution to our ruined weekend. We were out of pocket by a substantial amount, upset and inconvenienced to put it mildly and Antoine did not care and could not wait to get rid of us. A truly apaulling experience.

We love staying at the Clayton Cambridge. Such a good location. The rooms are elegant and spacious with large comfy beds. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent with a superb selection for breakfast including omelettes made to order. All day dining and even an in-room menu. We can't wait to go back again!
