About Hilton Cambridge City Centre
Downing Street sits right among Cambridge's colleges, museums and shopping streets, and the Hilton Cambridge City Centre makes the most of that address. With 198 rooms across four floors, it's a sizeable base for exploring the city on foot, with the historic centre and its attractions within easy walking distance.
Rooms are clean and well-proportioned, with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, family rooms and accessible options available, plus the usual comforts of room service and in-room drinks. Downstairs there's a restaurant, a bar known for its lively piano nights with live music, a snack bar, and breakfast served on site. The gym, meeting rooms and business services suit both work trips and weekend stays, and staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, with a generally calm, comfortable atmosphere throughout. Chargeable on-site parking and valet parking are available, along with laundry and luggage storage.
Beyond the hotel, guests can walk to pubs, restaurants and entertainment, with cycling and walking routes nearby and a golf course and fishing also within reach. It's worth noting the hotel is on the pricier side, though the central position goes some way to explaining the cost.

My review is based on what I would expect of a Hilton hotel and my two stays at the Cambridge Premiere Inn (newly opened). The Hilton is of course clean and you can be sure of a decent level of comfort. In this regard the Premier Inn was the same. It has a large lounge area but empty and no piano player or staff so didn’t feel like it was aimed for use - perhaps low season? However - knowing we are staying as a couple there was oddly only one pack of biscuits in the room and no herbal/non caffeine teas? Plus a chipped water glass left for us to use! Also it was barely half full but we were given a room with a sloping wall so the curtain couldn’t block light properly and that disrupted our sleep past sunrise. We tried to call house keeping / switchboard for extra blankets etc but no one picks up - quite unusual even if low capacity? You’re given two large pillows but very soft so you sink in the middle. Picky points perhaps but the premiere inn cost significantly less on our last two visits and didn’t have any of these issues (other than no phone at all to call down). We only stayed at the Hilton as it was cheaper than the premiere inn on this occasion. Haven’t tried the food but the Hilton has more restaurant and high tea options but I’m sure you can walk in for those. Overall if you want a fancy hotel experience go for the Hilton but room wise the premiere in was preferable if saving money.

Stayed for one night at the end of last month with my mum and absolutely loved it. The location of the hotel was great, couldn't believe how close we were to everything. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The bar was a great size and a nice selection of drinks on the menu. Breakfast went down a treat, my mum is from Belfast, so finding potato bread was a lovely surprise. Will definitely visit again

I had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return. The hotel is in an excellent city-centre location, making it easy to get around. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout my stay. I also appreciated being allowed an early check-in, and the £50 deposit was returned immediately after checkout, which was reassuring and hassle-free. The room was spacious and comfortable, and overall the stay was very pleasant. However, there are a few areas for improvement. The room did not include a fridge, bathrobe, or slippers, which I would have expected. Soundproofing was also quite poor, and I could clearly hear conversations from neighbouring rooms. Despite these minor drawbacks, the great location, friendly service, and smooth check-in/check-out experience made for a positive stay overall. Highly recommended!

Today we met Ivanna from the F&B team at Hilton Cambridge City Centre. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming and professional. She took the time to explain everything to us and made us feel genuinely looked after. Ivanna has excellent communication skills and made our visit truly enjoyable. We highly recommend both the restaurant. Everything was spotlless. The staff were friendly and attentive. We would be happy to come back again. Thank you!
