About The Earl Of Derby

The Earl Of Derby is a pub-style hotel on Hills Road in Cambridge, the kind of building where the bar and restaurant do as much work as the bedrooms upstairs. It sits within easy reach of the city centre and its attractions, giving guests a straightforward base without the price tag of a central address.

Rooms come as en-suite doubles and family rooms, with accessible options available, plus the practical extras of free WiFi and drinks available in room. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar serve breakfast and pub food including a well-regarded Sunday roast and a full English, all at reasonable prices, alongside a broad drinks selection. Staff are generally friendly and welcoming, though service can be slow to notice you at busier times. A garden adds outdoor space, and reception operates around the clock.

Free on-site parking is a genuine convenience in a city where that's often hard to come by, and there are further pubs, bars and restaurants nearby for evenings out. It's a dependable, unpretentious place to stay rather than a destination in itself.

I’m afraid me and my boyfriend didn’t have a very nice experience here. We paid for our drinks first time absolutely fine we were going to have two I had a lovely IPA and Ben a cider. When we were ready for our second drinks we were told about the £10 minimum and Ben tried to pay with his card but the woman said no you can’t pay because it’s £10 minimum….. felt very uncomfortable and will not be returning here Shame because I normally like Greene King pubs

Such a great place with friendly staff that will happily support with any queries. Rooms are a great size, clean, very accommodating and no noise disturbance at night. We stayed on a Saturday night. A secure car park is a available for customers. Earl of Derby is a short distance from the train station and approximately a 25 minute walk to the centre of town. Food is great, drink selection is great. Highly recommend 😁

We've been to the pub a couple of times and we really like it. Us and our dog have always been warmly welcomed and have found it to be a comfy, friendly, no frills local pub serving generous portions of simple, tasty, affordable food and well priced drinks. It's everything we want from a local pub and makes a refreshing change from the many ridiculously overpriced gastro-pubs in the area. We'll definitely visit again. 🫶 Free, secure parking too! 🎉

A very comfortable room, we found it very clean. Had some wear and tear in the bathroom. Great location! I will be recommending the Earl to anyone looking for a cosy place to stay close to the train station, with parking, and walking distance to all the museums and restaurants!!
