About The Waterman
Cambridge's city centre attractions are within easy reach of Chesterton Road, where The Waterman combines a working pub with straightforward hotel accommodation. It's the kind of place that leans on its food and its welcome rather than polish, with a garden and outdoor seating adding to the appeal on a decent day.
Rooms are en-suite, with family rooms available and drinks available to order in, though some have been reported as showing their age and could do with a refresh. Breakfast is served, and the on-site restaurant and bar are the real draw, with a seasonal menu, fish and chips, and Sunday roasts that guests return for. Staff are consistently described as friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere is warm rather than formal.
Practical extras include free WiFi, 24-hour reception, luggage storage, meeting rooms, and kids' meals, plus pets are welcome. The surrounding area has further pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, and it suits those keen on cycling as well as those wanting to explore Cambridge itself. It works well as a comfortable, well-fed base rather than a luxury stay.

What guests say
My favourite pub in Cambridge. Always greeted with a smile and excellent service. The drink selection has a great variety and I always enjoy coming back to try the seasonal updates to their food menu. Currently loving the new fish pie. The place always has a great atmosphere for sports and as a local it’s both the ideal place to catch the game with my mates and enjoy a Sunday roast with the family. Notcied today their garden space just got some new plants and furniture which has made this place an even better place to soak up the sun with a pint. Highly recommend.

Pub fun!. Nice little spot very central to the centre. Made even more better as it's directly above a pub! Me and my mate got to see lost in the city and enjoyed an evening meal before the football which was ideal for us. The burger was brilliant and the pub had loads of other sports fans, making for a really good atmosphere. The room was nice and clean with a comfy set of twin beds

My partner and I visited The Waterman for brunch, and we were both really impressed. We ordered the fish and chips and a roast, and both dishes were excellent and far better than what you usually get at most pubs. To be honest, the quality of the food here can easily beat many high-end restaurants in Cambridge. It’s probably the best pub meal I’ve had. A special shoutout to Nico, who kindly offered us coffees on the house after brunch. Great food and great service. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Went to watch the World Cup final with friends at the Waterman. It was a Sunday and they were still serving roasts at 7pm. Great food, great venue for watching the match, friendly service and a good atmosphere. We all had a great time.
