About Leonardo Hotel Cardiff
Cardiff Castle, St David's shopping centre and the city's cultural attractions are all within easy walking distance of Leonardo Hotel Cardiff, making it a practical base for exploring the Welsh capital on foot. The surrounding streets also offer plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, while those wanting to get further afield will find cycling and walking routes, as well as watersports and fishing, within reach.
The hotel itself has 140 rooms, many with generously sized beds, plus en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and family and accessible options. Some rooms show signs of wear, though the space on offer is a consistent plus. A restaurant and bar are on site, and breakfast includes a good spread of buffet choices, with packed lunches available for guests heading out early. Room service, laundry service and drinks in room add to the practical extras, and business travellers are catered for with meeting rooms and business services.
Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, which makes up for the odd rough edge in room upkeep. There's a lift to all five floors, luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures, and on-site parking for drivers, though this comes at an extra charge.

What guests say
I stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Cardiff in June 2025 fr 3 days and had a genuinely great experience overall. On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a King Suite, which instantly set the tone for the stay. The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with plenty of room to relax and unwind. All the amenities you’d expect were provided, and everything was clean and well maintained, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was another highlight. There was a good variety of options available, and everything I tried was fresh and tasty, making it a solid start to the day. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which always makes a big difference when traveling. Location-wise, the hotel is excellent. Most major attractions, shops, restaurants, and bars are within easy walking distance, so getting around Cardiff was effortless and didn’t require any transport. The only downside during my stay was the noise from birds outside in the morning, especially if you try to open the curtains. It was slightly disruptive, though not a major issue. Also, a small tip: don’t forget to bring any over-the-counter medications you might need, just in case. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. I would happily stay here again on my next visit back.

We recently stayed at the Leonardo Hotel Cardiff in a Superior King Room and had a fantastic experience overall. The room was absolutely amazing. The king-size bed was huge, incredibly comfortable, and one of the best hotel beds we've slept in. The shower was outstanding too – powerful, modern, and a real highlight of our stay. What really made the visit special was the staff. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and their excellent customer service made us feel valued throughout our stay. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and in a great location, making it an excellent base for exploring Cardiff. There were a couple of minor issues. The TV only offered standard terrestrial channels, with no access to Netflix, streaming services, or catch-up TV. The toilet also didn't flush particularly well, often requiring several flushes before toilet paper cleared properly. Breakfast was the only area that was slightly disappointing. When we arrived, there was no bacon or fried eggs available, and the selection felt a little limited. However, the yoghurt was excellent and very enjoyable. Despite these small issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The outstanding staff, amazing shower, and incredibly comfortable bed more than made up for the minor shortcomings. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cardiff.

I would like to single out the two young ladies who were on reception when I arrived at c12.00 pm on 22 May. One was Lily but sadly I cannot recall the other young ladies name. Anyway they were both very welcoming and helpful, just what you need when you arrive. As a customer facing service worker for 40 years, and managing a team for 20 of those, I always recognise excellent customer service when I see it. Its the foundation stone of a companys success, and in Lily and her colleague you have that. I would also like to thank the cleaner on the 3rd floor who found my mobile phone I had left on a sofa in the corridor. Overall I found my stay excellent and it will definitely be my port of call next time I am in Cardiff.

For my first visit to a Leonardo hotel i could not give more praise. The staff on entry were wonderful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food in evening tasted really fresh and restaurant service was top notch. The breakfast was delicious and kept freshly topped up. The location was perfect for a short walk into Central cardiff and parking was nowhere near as expensive as other hotels in area. I will definitely be booking again this month.
