Woodpecker Rest sits in Llechryd, a hamlet surrounded by woodland on the edge of Ceredigion. The name comes from the birds that visit its enclosed garden, which includes a wildlife pond and patio with seating. Two bedrooms sleep four: one with a kingsize bed and ensuite upstairs, one with two single beds downstairs. Both have televisions. A second bathroom with shower cubicle is on the ground floor, and there is a sun room where you can watch the garden from inside. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included; the kitchen has a full range of appliances for self-catering.
Within walking distance, the village pub in Llechryd serves locally brewed ales. Cardigan town centre is five minutes north by car, home to the castle and restaurants including the Michelin-accredited Yr Hen Printworks. Poppit Sands beach, with its golden sand, lies nearby for swimming, kayaking or surfing. One dog stays free. The property is yours alone. A fenced pond sits 15 yards from the house, and smoking is not permitted.

An immaculate cottage in a fabulous location. Hosts John and Steph are so welcoming and John is like an encyclopedia of local knowledge, from best chippies, restaurants to best beaches and local markets. Our 15 yr old dog absolutely loved it and it's freedom. We will definitely be going back again.

First thing to know is that there are indeed woodpeckers! The extensive garden provided a wonderful avian habitat and a verdant backdrop as viewed from the large conservatory, very useful with the notoriously changeable Welsh weather. The house is well appointed, comfortable and immaculately clean throughout, and although not technically detached from the main house, the layout means there is zero chance of disturbing or being disturbed. The hosts were the perfect amount of welcoming, whilst leaving you to get on with your holiday. The property is very dog friendly, our giant Russian Bear Dog thoroughly enjoyed herself in the secure private garden put aside solely for the use of guests. Finally, the property is very handy for, but not disturbed by, the main A484 road which gives easy access to Cardigan and the wonderful beaches beyond, Poppit Sands is highly recommended for walking the dog. I highly recommend Woodpeckers Rest!

Great secluded holiday cottage. Lovely location if you have a car to access hills, rivers, beaches, coast path, nature reserves, seaside towns. Pristine condition. Good large lawn for frisbee. Very few streetlights around, so excellent for stargazing. Loads of amazing wildlife around - otters, kingfishers and dippers on the nearby teifi river. Mind your head on the beams 😅
