All aboard for a special stay in the Somerset countryside at this unusual glamping spot near Cheddar. The star attraction is Long Beach, a vintage Californian yellow school bus that's been thoughtfully converted into a surprisingly spacious retreat for up to six guests. Inside you'll find a proper kitchen with gas hob and fridge, a quality shower, flushing toilet, and plenty of home comforts including underfloor heating, a woodburner and Egyptian cotton bedding.

The bus sits within a larger family-friendly campsite, so you'll have access to the play area (where kids can clamber over farming paraphernalia), an on-site coffee shack serving caffeine hits and milkshakes, and various facilities including cycle hire and a washing-up area. An alfresco dining space with barbecue sits just outside your door.

Cheddar's restaurants and takeaways are just over a mile away, while the surrounding area offers easy access to farm shops, watersports, climbing and the spectacular Mendip Hills. No pets allowed, so pack accordingly.
