About Travelodge Cheltenham

Travelodge Cheltenham has 106 rooms spread across four floors, positioned at Golden Valley Roundabout with easy access to the M5, making it a practical stop for drivers heading into the Cotswolds or on to the racecourse and spa town itself. Staff are consistently noted as friendly and helpful, which counts for a lot at a no-frills budget hotel of this size.

Rooms are en-suite, with accessible options available and drinks provided, along with a lift for those on upper floors. Some rooms show their wear, so it's worth keeping expectations in line with the price point rather than a boutique stay. On-site parking is available but comes at a charge, payable at reception, which is worth factoring into your budget.

There's a pub, restaurant and eatery all nearby, plus a KFC for something quicker, and golf and entertainment options within reach for those staying longer. Pets are welcome, making this a straightforward, well-located base for exploring Cheltenham and the surrounding hills.

First time here as a solo business traveller passing through Cheltenham. Overall pretty good for the price point. Friendly and welcoming staff on reception and easy checking in process. I was staying in an accessible room. Good wide and level doors with alarms bedside and in the bathroom. Room was clean and well presented with two single beds. Mattress was a bit soft for my tastes and made getting in and out of bed more challenging. Plenty of parking which is discounted for those staying here. Felt safe, accessible and was well lit. Harvester and KFC in close proximity. No air-conditioning in the room, just a small fan which struggled to do anything in 30+ degree heat on a south facing room - and windows were open when I arrived in the afternoon. I am sure these rooms are fine in normal weather/ temperatures, but tough sleeping in the heat.

⚠️ Warning: If you're planning on staying here during the summer or during a heatwave, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Our room was unbearably hot – it felt well over 30°C. The outside temperature overnight was only around 17°C, yet the room remained like a sauna because the windows don't open. There was no air conditioning, only a small desk fan that made virtually no difference. To make matters worse, there was virtually no mobile phone signal in the room and the Wi-Fi was extremely slow, making it difficult to stay connected. We had booked a two-night stay but ended up leaving in the middle of the first night because it was impossible to sleep. We'd rather lose the money than endure another sleepless night. I've stayed in many Travelodges over the years and have generally had good experiences, which makes this especially disappointing. This is the first time I've ever had such a poor experience. Perhaps being directly above the Harvester restaurant contributes to the heat, but whatever the cause, the room was simply not fit for a comfortable stay in warm weather. If you're visiting outside the summer months, your experience may be very different. However, during hot weather, I'd recommend booking somewhere with air conditioning and better ventilation.

Hotel is in a great location with restaurants and shops nearby. However if you’re planning on staying in the summer I’d strongly advise against booking. The rooms are like a sauna with only small desktop fans making it a really uncomfortable stay. The bathroom was also pretty dirty. Would definitely spend a bit extra to book elsewhere

Room was absolutely boiling- not an exaggeration, it was well over 35c in the room and the little fan did nothing but move the air straight from the Sahara onto our sweating corpses. If you are a recently arrived scorpion from the plains of the Serengetti then you will feel right at home. If you want a good nights sleep after a long day of driving and its been a warm day then pay the £8 parking and try to sleep in your car. The staff were trying to be helpful but there is nothing they could do. The hotel has absolutely no ventilation and is not suitable at all when the weather is hot .
