About Pitch and Canvas
Pitch and Canvas sits just outside Tattenhall in rural Cheshire, offering a peaceful base for exploring the region. The site welcomes campfires and dogs, with a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches — all backed by genuinely warm hospitality that guests consistently praise. Facilities are straightforward: clean showers and toilets, electric hook-ups, drinking water and waste disposal, though there's no WiFi if you need to stay connected.
The location works well for day trips to Chester, local walks along the Sandstone Trail, or simply enjoying the quiet Cheshire countryside. It's the kind of unpretentious, friendly site that does the basics well without any fanfare — perfect if you want somewhere relaxed to pitch up rather than a resort-style experience.

What visitors say
Booked this campsite last minute for 2 nights, even though it didn't have supervised staff clear instructions were emailed to me prior to arrival. It was lovely and quiet, clean toilets, hot showers and a place to plug in my hairdryer. I would have liked to see clearly labelled recycle bins because I like to do my bit. The pitch was grass the only issue was a few mole hills but that's nature. Lovely to be on a campsite surrounded by open fields.

We have a campervan and camp all over the country. We camped here as it was close to a festival we were visiting. I have to admit, after reading all the positive reviews, I was really disappointed with the site. There is no staff on site until around mid day, so one morning there was no electricity or hot water, and another day, the toilets where disgusting and had no toilet roll. Staff need to be on site early when people are there and need assistance. To turn up at midday for a couple of hours and the leave makes no sense to me. Our friends where staying in a caravan and we ended up using their facilities as we found the ones of site just dirty. I am not fussy at all, and we have stayed on very basic sites before, but this site didnt present to me how it was advertised.

What a wonderful campsite. We found it friendly, clean and in such a great location. Warm welcome. Clean toilets. Never had to queue at toilets or showers. Well planned out and managed site. It had the best play facilities a campsite could have....an open field with no playground. This meant the kids all made friends and played together (including a five family water fight on the hottest day) Wonderful location, we managed 5 castles, 2 cities, kids' destinations, and a wonderful village down the road. Wonderful dark skies meant we saw aurora and two shooting stars on loo runs at night. Only down side was the wind changing its mind which direction to blow and how strong. We will return and highly recommend.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming on our arrival. This is a well maintained site, with clean toilet/shower blocks, a washing up area for pots, and the pitches are spacious with a big open area in the middle of the site for kids to play. There local village (Tattenhall) and the Ice Cream farm are only a few minutes drive away, alternatively there are off-road walking routes to both directly from the camp. Overall a great stay and would definitely visit again in the future.
