About Peckforton Castle
Tasting menus, afternoon tea and a menu with plenty of vegetarian choice set the tone at Peckforton Castle, a hotel built within an actual castle in the Cheshire countryside near Tarporley. The kitchen's reputation for good food is matched by a bar for a drink before or after dinner, and outdoor seating for warmer days, while snacks and room service cover the quieter hours. Staff are generally attentive and professional, though service has occasionally been described as inconsistent.
The 48 rooms are en-suite, with drinks available in room and lift access throughout the building, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. Beyond the restaurant, guests have use of a spa and sauna, free WiFi, laundry service and concierge support, and the castle also operates as a wedding venue with meeting rooms and business facilities for larger gatherings.
Outside, the grounds and surrounding countryside invite walking, with golf and fishing both available nearby, and Tatton Park within reach as a local point of interest. Further pubs, restaurants and entertainment can be found in the area, and free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point make arriving by car straightforward.

What guests say
Beautiful place. Attended a wedding here and was a lovely venue. The bar and food is quite expensive but worth it. I guess it is a more fine dining experience. Only downside i would comment on was while at the wedding the attention to detail could have been a little better. I will explain and it is minor but maybe something they could work on. The bar only had ine person serving all night so sometimes was quite a wait. After the wedding breakfast they served tea and coffee outside the main hall theu had cups etc but no spoons and had to ask 3 times for spoons. Which took about 20 mins to get them. In the evening it was finger food but unfortunately no serviettes with the plates again had to ask and wait about 20 mins to get some. Like I say minor details but details all the same which could be improved on. The rooms were beautiful and the whole place was spectacular.

A hotel converted from an old castle style manor house set in it's own woodland grounds Tastefully modernised where it needs to be but still retaining plenty of medieval style charm, including some of the inherent issues that brings (layout, small windows, maze like corridors). Attended the hotel for a wedding and for this or similar events it's a picture perfect venue. Staff were excellent and the service in general was very good. Plenty of event spaces both big and small, but there's a very long walk and at least one flight of stairs to what started to be the only set of toilets in that part of the building which isn't ideal. We didn't stay but had a nosey in the rooms and they are as grand as you'd expect them to be, if a little dark because of the type of building. As a venue would highly recommend, Can't comment as a place to stay, but wedding guests that did were very positive

Everything about our stay at Peckforton Castle Hotel was perfect. The location, the welcome, the room, the food, and the staff. It was all we hoped for and more. The first night we ate in the Brasserie - again a 5* experience, and the second night we went for the tasting and pairing menu in the 1851 restaurant - 5* experience doesn't do it justice. The 1851 restaurant was an amazing experience - delicious food, well-chosen wine to accompany every mouthful, and really helpful staff on hand to explain what we were eating and drinking and why they would work together. We were all impressed by the professionalism of the staff. They were knowledgable, well-trained, and had time for the guests. Breakfast was superb and set us up each day for our walks. We were able to set off for a walk along the Sandstone Trail from the door and create a lovely circuit - staff on reception gave us a sheet with two walking options. This is a gem of a place, well run, with extremely high standards - we are already checking out diaries for a return visit.

We stayed at Peckforton Castle in November for our birthdays and it turned into one of the best hospitality experiences we’ve had in a long time. From the moment we arrived the whole team were warm, welcoming and genuinely professional. The castle itself is stunning, and every part of the stay — from reception, to both the restaurants, the Wine Cellar Bar, to breakfast — was handled brilliantly. The highlight for us was the tasting experience in 1851. The food was exceptional, beautifully presented and thoughtfully balanced throughout the menu. The venison dish and the cheese & onion tart were particular standouts, and the milk bread course was a really clever touch. The menu struck the perfect balance where you leave satisfied rather than still hungry, which isn’t always the case with tasting menus. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a star in their future! What really stood out though was the hospitality. Every member of staff we encountered clearly cared about giving guests a great experience, and that culture really shows. Working in hospitality ourselves, we know how difficult the industry has been over the past few years, which made it even more impressive to see a team delivering this level of service and quality. A fantastic stay and somewhere we would highly recommend.
