Harbour Hotel Chichester

I previously left this hotel a 3-star review due to ongoing communication issues before our stay, but after staying here the night before my wedding, I feel compelled to update it. We booked both a Superior Double and a Standard Double around 6 months in advance. For the Superior room, I had specifically requested a renovated, well-lit room with enough space for my MUA and photographer on my wedding morning. These requests had been acknowledged by the hotel beforehand. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was a wedding reception taking place directly near our room. The noise levels were extremely disruptive loud music, vibrations through the walls and floors, and constant noise in the corridors until late into the evening. The room itself was also dark and not suitable for wedding preparations. When we raised our concerns and asked whether another room might be available, the receptionist confirmed our requests were visible on the booking and contacted the Operations Manager. Sadly, the interaction that followed was disappointing. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue, our concerns felt dismissed and we were left without any meaningful solution or apology. Additional issues included broken and rusty ironing boards and generally poor attention to detail throughout the stay. The experience caused a great deal of unnecessary stress the night before our wedding, and after the wedding itself we chose not to return for the second night despite having already paid for it. For a stay costing close to £990, the overall experience fell far below expectations for a hotel presenting itself at this standard.

Excellent overnight stay, thank you! We ate in the restaurant before walking over to the Chichester Festival Theatre. Enjoyed drinks back in the bar after the show and an excellent breakfast the next morning. Our bedroom was really lovely too, super comfy and quiet. 100% recommend the hotel for a stay.

I hate giving one-star reviews but in this case I feel obligated to warn others: Avoid this hotel at all costs in the summer. The rooms can get dangerously hot and the windows only open a few inches, so ventilation is basically non-existent. It was 33C in the room at night. I had to sleep in my car in order to actually get any sleep, and changed hotels the next day. Also, the outlets next to the window did not work, which made it impossible to position the fan in a way to try to blow cooler outside air into the room. The staff made an attempt to help, but to no avail. They also entered the room while someone was showering without waiting to get verbal consent to enter. It’s a nice looking hotel and it’s probably fine in the colder months but it’s simply not worth the risk of even a minor heat wave ruining your ability to sleep.

So close to a great hotel, but the strange insistence of having the heating on constantly throughout the building makes the bedrooms uncomfortably hot. This was during a couple of days of 18 degree heat so I cannot imagine what it would be like in summer. The rest of the stay was great, with good service, facilities and tasty breakfast options. Such a shame that it's impossible to sleep! The parking surcharge of 10 pounds a day also was unusual but the least of our worries!
