About Sussex Meadow Shepherd's Huts
Skip off to the South Downs National Park for a stylish stay among rolling countryside. Sussex Meadow Shepherd's Huts occupies a tranquil corner of a working farm in West Sussex, about 10 minutes' drive from both Petworth and Haslemere. With only a couple of hand-built huts set at opposite ends of a field, you'll have plenty of peace and privacy—or book both for a family getaway where everyone has their own space.
The huts themselves are something special: locally crafted to high standards and kitted out with ensuite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens (gas hob and fridge), and woodburners for cosy evenings. Everything runs on solar power, so expect USB charging points rather than 3-pin sockets. Views from your window—or while cooking over the firepit—stretch across greenery, trees and wildflowers.
The South Downs' eastern reaches offer excellent walking and cycling routes, with village pubs dotted along the way, and the south coast is around 40 minutes' drive when you fancy a seaside day out.

Such a lovely stay - almost don’t want to review so no one else finds our little spot! We had a very cosy 2 nights in the hut, everything you need is there, including a few emergency toiletries etc etc. The coffee machine, fresh milk and tea bags were a lovely touch and the hut was spotlessly clean. We’d definitely come back in the future, thanks for a wonderful relaxing weekend

A really comfortable stay at the brilliantly situated shepherds hut. The setting was really peaceful yet only a half an hour canal walk into town or in the other direction to a lovely pub on the Dell Quay Marina. This was a great short break and we would highly recommend to anyone really. Anita was a great host who also accommodated a relaxed departure time. We of course will be going back.

What an amazing find!!! Stone Meadow Shepherd's Hut far exceeded my expectations. I had the most relaxing, peaceful, luxuriant stay - thanks to Anita's incredible hosting skills and taste. From the unexpected and fab Christmas present on arrival, the quality furnishings, fixtures, decor (and super comfy bed), to the home made mince pies delivered by Anita, I couldn't have been happier with my stay. A home away from home. 110% highly recommended - don't miss out! Thanks so much for making my stay and Christmas extra special Anita :).

We booked two nights and wished we'd stayed longer! The hut is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fire pit enjoying the night sky. Helen and Anita were fabulous hosts, leaving us to enjoy our stay but very friendly and responsive. Would definitely recommend!
