About North Walls House

North Walls House is a Grade II* listed Georgian townhouse on North Street, inside the old city walls and within easy walking distance of the cathedral and the Festival Theatre. It is registered as a Wolsey Lodge, reflecting its status as a family-run house rather than a commercial hotel, and holds eight bedrooms of varying size and bathroom arrangement.

Breakfast is included in the room rate, and evening meals can be arranged with notice for guests who would rather not go out. A separate Coach House in the grounds is sometimes used for small meetings or rehearsals, and the walled garden gives the house a private outdoor space unusual for a central Chichester property.

Its combination of period character, central position and personal service has made it popular with visitors attending the theatre or concerts, and the house is set up to accommodate families, including a travel cot, high chair and stair gates on request.

We were in Chichester to attend a family wedding and could not have chosen a more perfect B&B. Good old fashioned hospitality with a warm welcome from Claire, and later Philip. Wonderful house, beautifully restored and adapted to C21st living but still retaining a feeling of elegance. Very comfortable beds and good showers. Breakfast was generous to a fault complete with delicious home made bread. Our hosts were attentive without being intrusive and we enjoyed our chats with them. Should add that the location, on Chichester's North Street was perfect as one can stroll into the centre in minutes, leaving the car behind. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay and hope to return at some point - just need another family wedding in the area!.

Claire and Philip are marvelous hosts, who both made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home. I stayed here for two nights for an annual pre-Christmas catch up with an old school friend. North Walls House is in the perfect location, very close to quality high street and boutique shops and a wide selection of eateries, bars and pubs. A five minute walk takes you to two theatres which seem to have great events programmes (we saw 'Life of Pi'). A three minute walk takes you to the beautiful Chichester Cathedral. A short drive takes you to Arundel and its pretty streets, castle and cathedral. North Walls House is beautiful, comfortable and with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfasts, and cake, are SUPERB and I felt spoilt rotten. There was plenty of room to park our two cars right next to the house. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you're planning a visit to Chichester. I very much hope to return one day...and after staying at North Walls House, can't imagine anywhere else would come close!

Reading previously made reviews which I totally agree on, I have one remarkable detail to add. As we are Dutch we felt even more welcome with our flag hanging outside the north walls house!! Philip and Claire, thanks for the hospitality. 😘

Stayed for one night in this delightful house. Full of character . Lovingly restored in keeping with the character. The bedroom was as good as any hotel . In fact it was better. High ceilings. Sash windows with window seats. En suite bathroom and comfortable bed. It was spotless. Tea making facilities with fresh milk provided. Great freshly cooked full breakfast with the best poached eggs and fresh breads with home made marmalade. A special treat on arrival. Tea and a peice of home made cake. Hotel is right on the high street and minutes from the Festival theatre. Free parking was available. Thank you to the hosts. !! I shall certainly return !
