About Travelodge Cockermouth
Free on-site parking, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, is one of the more practical draws of Travelodge Cockermouth, making it a straightforward base for exploring this part of Cumbria. The hotel sits on Europe Way and has 26 rooms spread across two floors, positioned within reach of Wordsworth House and Garden, Jennings Brewery, and the wider Lake District.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. Guests generally find the rooms clean, spacious and warm, though some have noted that upkeep can be inconsistent and that there aren't always enough power sockets for modern devices. A restaurant and bar operate on site, breakfast is served, and drinks can be brought to the room. Staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel is regarded as good value for money.
Beyond the hotel, there's a Starbucks nearby along with pubs, bars and other restaurants for evenings out. The surrounding area suits golf, fishing and walking, and pets are welcome at the property, making it a flexible option for those touring the Lake District with an animal in tow.

What guests say
This was our first ever visit to a Travelodge. My husband & I had booked for one night, so that we could be in the area for my Uncle's funeral the next morning. We were rather surprised to find we had been given a family room, so there were 2 extra beds (single) in the room as well as the king-sized. The pillows were rather too soft & as we only had 1 each, we borrowed an extra each from the other beds/ spares on the shelf. The bed was comfy (though higher up than we're used to!) and the curtains were good at keeping the light out, but sadly, I didn't sleep much - my husband had turned the heating up earlier & we had forgotten to turn it back before we went to bed, so I was too warm. (Plus his heavy breathing/snoring kept me awake!) I also found that, if I turned away from facing the window, I could see the light on the smoke detector near the door constantly flashing - I don't know if that means it needs its battery replacing or the whole alarm needs replacing. Thankfully it didn't beep though. Although close to the A66, we never heard any traffic noise at all, and apart from the occasional sound of doors shutting, we never heard the other guests either. When in the shower, I discovered the shower gel/shampoo dispenser was empty, but as I had already brought my own, it wasn't really an issue. It took me a minute of two to figure out how to get hot water to come out of the shower nozzle rather than the bath taps! The room was clean, there was a kettle & tea, coffee & milk cartons - which we replenished from reception the following morning. The breakfast was plentiful, though not all the hot food was very hot; the staff were very friendly and helpful - heated up my croissant & after breakfast, when my husband needed to refill the screen wash bottle in the car, provided a plastic jug for him to do so. All in all, a pleasant stay, reasonably priced & we would consider Travelodge in the future.

Arrived at 8pm but lots of parking available. Lots of shops nearby. The Travelodge has a cafe and a bar. Quite a way to town but I'm up early tomorrow so ideal for me. Nice woodland view from my room. Better than a brick wall or a roof!

If you wish to charge your phone and have it close by then you’ll need an extension lead 👀 other than that the room is perfectly fine. The guy on reception was extremely helpful whilst checking in late on into the evening. Bar open until 1am too 🎊

Terrible place. The room I stayed in resembles a prison cell. 1 socket available miles away from the bed. Had a travelodge employee knocking on my at 11 complaining I had my tv on too loud. I didn’t but I had to turn it down to barely a whisper and couldn’t hear it myself. The tv is mounted back to back with the next rooms bed on paper thin walls. Therefore watching tv is out of the question. The guy who came up looked like he couldn’t dress himself. Unkempt hair. Food all down his shirt which was un ironed. Scruffy and Disgusting. I’d suggest finding somewhere else to stay.
