Chapel Mouse Cottage
Cumberland
This former chapel in Cockermouth has been converted into a two-bedroom cottage that retains its character through original beams running across the walls. The ground floor holds an open-plan kitchen and living area with a dishwasher and washing machine; upstairs are a double bedroom and a twin room, both decorated with paintings of Herdwick sheep by a local artist, plus a walk-in shower. You get the place entirely to yourselves, with private parking for one car and access to a shared rear courtyard with garden furniture.
Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included. The cottage sits on a quiet street within easy walking distance of Cockermouth town centre, where you'll find pubs serving local ales, independent shops, cafes and the Wordsworth House museum. Jennings Brewery, Kirkgate Arts, and the leisure centre are all nearby. The Lake District National Park border lies close by for those wanting to venture further. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage.
