The Lake District and Cumbrian coast are within reach of this part of Cumberland, where you can walk straight into the fells or drive to Cockermouth and the villages beyond. Bears Lodge sits in Meadows Retreat Lodge Park at Moota, a base with its own parking and enclosed garden where you can step outside without fuss.

The lodge sleeps four across two bedrooms: one with a king bed and en-suite, the other with two singles and access to a shower room. Ground-floor living means you get an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area that flows onto a decking space, with a Smart TV and wi-fi included. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen and towels—are covered. One dog is welcome. The property is non-smoking.

This works well for a couple wanting space, or a family who don't mind children sharing a room. Lillyhall Lodge Retreat is nearby if you want to explore what else the park offers. Arrive after 3pm, leave by 10am.

We were greeted by Vicky who showed us around and assured us she would assist with anything we needed. Lodge was a great size and had everything and more for our few days away. Grounds were lovely and peaceful, and the hot tub was a welcome bonus after days out walking/hiking. Location was great too as only about 25 minutes from the beach, about 15 minutes from the supermarket and similar with Workington harbour. Would definitely book again if visiting this part of the Lake District again.
