Colliford Lake Hotel and Holiday Site

Camping review - stayed here for 3 nights mid week and the only campers. It's a nice quiet site with trees for shelter and is sheep grazed. The toilets and showers were fine with hot water if you run them long enough and toilet roll and soap. Some of the other reviews say it's dated and like a ghost town which is true but it's still a nice site for peace and quiet and the facilities are completely average 80s/90s style and clean enough. It's great if you aren't one for nosy campsite owners as they totally leave you in peace here and are just there if you need help 👍🏻

Avoid this place like the plague!!! Had to be the most un organised hotel in existence. We booked our stay in the quad family room on hotels.com. We were told when we arrived they only take bookings from booking.com (they still took my money). They gave me 2 alternative rooms which they hastily put together for me and my family which smelt strongly of body odour, the uht milt packet was open and mouldy, the bathrooms were filthy + the toilet sounded like it was going to blow up, im guessing one of the hosts was living in the one with body odour! And to top it off they accepted no blame for this and made out like it was my problem that I should sort out! Thankfully hotelals.com gave me a full refund and we found alternative accommodation!! Please dont book and avoid at all costs!

We stayed 1 night on 9th August, service was very poor, accommodation was not clean. Looked like bathroom was not touched with feaces in toilet and very dirty toilet brush, floor and walls. Tavern food ? Ordered lasagne which on arrival one was cold the other tepid both looked like microwave meals. Did not stay 2nd night due to poor standards, no one answered the phone?, no staff around to return key and no one replies to the 3 emails I sent, only reply was we hope you had a good stay? ? . Do these owners not actually read their emails. Still awaiting a refund for night we did not stay.

HiddenGemUK.com rating 💎 I really hate to write a bad review, especially knowing the challenges that privately-owned hotels face, but I feel compelled to share my experience with the Colliford Lake Hotel to warn others. Avoid this place like the plague. It really doesn't get any worse than this. First off, it's outrageously expensive for what you get. When we arrived at reception, we were informed that the room we had booked was already occupied. We were made to wait for 40 minutes before being told that an apartment was available. Initially, they tried to put us in a room without a kitchen, which was unacceptable as we had brought food to cook. After another 40 minutes, they finally told us our original room was ready. The condition of the room was appalling. It was clear that it hadn't been cleaned since the last guest left. The only thing that seemed clean was the bedding. The overall state of the room was closer to a squat than a hotel. For the price we paid, this was an unacceptable experience. I strongly advise you to steer clear of the Colliford Lake Hotel.
