About Compton Park
Perched on the sunny south-western slopes of Kit Hill Country Park, Compton Park occupies a special slice of east Cornwall's mining heritage. The six-acre site sits where a Victorian tin mine once stood, and its converted steam engine house now serves as both restaurant-tearoom and amenity block – a thoughtful nod to the area's industrial past. From here, views sweep across Cornwall and Devon: Plymouth and the Mewstone to the east, the Eddystone lighthouse twelve miles out to sea, and the white clay tips and Bodmin Moor to the west.
Kit Hill itself – gifted to Cornwall by Prince Charles in 1985 – crowns the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and buzzards and kestrels still hunt the skies above these rolling hills. The site welcomes adults only, keeping things peaceful for those seeking a quieter escape. Callington, with its shops and supermarket, lies twenty minutes on foot, while Kelly Bray village is just five minutes away for a pub pint or launderette visit. Some reviewers note facilities can feel a touch dated in places, but the setting and sense of history more than compensate.

Small and personal, immaculately clean and tidy. Mix of electric and non pitches, gravel with side grass which is very well kept. Good recycling and the facilities are in a wooden hut, single rooms with showers, toilets and sinks again immaculately clean and tidy. This is a gem!!

Stayed on this campsite for the first time and I was thoroughly impressed. It’s clean, friendly and the grounds are extremely well kept. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They have a restaurant on site also. The food is delicious, hot and served quickly. The site is dog friendly and on the edge of a national park which is perfect for dog walks. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed for two nights service and site lovely staff very friendly and accommodating just a couple of niggles. Showers are a bit small and no adjustment on temperature or shower head so if you did not want to wash your hair, unlucky! Also we paid £5 for electric and only used £1 with no refund on unused units. But we used your restaurant and spent well over a £100 on food and drinks. So enough profit made there but no refund on over paid electric bit greedy!!

Fantastic location, fantastic food and fantastic service. Recently stumbled upon this stunning cafe situated on top of a hill in Callington in Cornwall. We all loved our food and the service was impeccable and was very reasonably priced.
