Sundowners is a characterful listed cottage in the heart of Calstock, a conservation village on the Cornish side of the River Tamar. The building sits among the granite and slate properties typical of this part of the valley, with the Tamar Valley itself designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Two bedrooms sleep up to five—a kingsize bed in the first room and a bunk bed in the second—with a bathroom upstairs, and downstairs a living room centred on a wood-burning stove, plus a kitchen and dining space.
The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals, with an electric cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer. A sofa bed in the living room provides flexible sleeping arrangements. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with initial logs for the woodburner. There is parking nearby at the quay, with drop-off access at the door. One dog is welcome. The cottage is non-smoking.
Calstock offers a cafe, two pubs and an ice cream shop on the doorstep; a small convenience store sits 2½ miles away in Gunnislake. The village has a train station with direct services to Plymouth. Walking trails explore the Tamar Valley, and the coast at Looe, Cotehele House and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all within reach by car. The BBC series Beyond Paradise filmed locally, using village landmarks and Port Eliot as locations.
