The Mill House

Porthcothan Bay, a surf-friendly beach with golden sand and lifeguard patrols in summer, lies a five-minute walk from The Mill House. This 1597 cottage sits in a valley away from crowds, making it a genuine retreat rather than a base camp. You get the whole property to yourself: three bedrooms sleeping six, a sitting room with log fire and TV, a properly equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included.

The ground floor is semi-open-plan, with the sitting room flowing into the kitchen and dining area via a sliding barn door. Upstairs, one bedroom has a double bed and garden views, another is also a double overlooking the valley, and the third has twin beds. The garden, planted around you in the valley, has sun loungers and an outdoor shower—useful after beach days, dog walks, or anything sandy. One dog is welcome. The property does not allow smoking.
