About Porthcothan Clifftop Camping

Perched on clifftops above Porthcothan Bay, this seasonal pop-up site on a working beef and sheep farm captures the wild spirit of the Cornish coast. Sweeping sea views stretch in every direction, and when the sun dips low, the sky erupts in shades of gold and crimson—nature's nightly theatre for those lucky enough to pitch here. The golden beach lies just five minutes down the South West Coast Path, perfect for morning swims or evening strolls with your four-legged companion.

Facilities are deliberately simple: hot showers, composting loos, and water taps scattered across the spacious grass field. You'll need to bring everything you need, though cafés sit within easy walking distance and Saint Merryn village (five minutes' drive) offers shops and supplies. Padstow, that renowned foodie haven, beckons just fifteen minutes down the road when you fancy something special.

This is camping for those who relish a bit of rugged self-sufficiency in exchange for jaw-dropping scenery and that glorious sense of sleeping on the edge of the world.

Stayed here last week and it was absolutely amazing! The owner was such a nice person and the views were stunning. The walk down to porthcothan beach was really quick and we had such a good day swimming in the sun

Beautiful location but amenities leave a lot to be desired. 3 showers and 4 toilets for 2 fields of campers. Hot water is not guaranteed and toilets smell due to not being monitored regularly. For £30 a night amenities could have been better.

Incredible! Beautiful camping spots right on the coast. Good showers and toilets. Right on a beautiful spot of the South West Coastal Path. Quiet after 10. Jeff is a wonderful host!

The location is absolutely incredible and the view is great. We camped right at the bottom, which I probably wouldn’t do again, as it got really loud during the night and was really windy due to a stormy weather, so maybe keep that in mind when you decide where to pitch. But it’s definitely a great place if you’re travelling with a van. The site had all the necessities, however, the water in the shower was cold when we turned it on..
