About Porthcothan Retreats
Good views, good walks and plenty of local surf spots – might that take your fancy? Oh, and there's a rather splendid sandy beach a mere 100 metres away as well.
This adults-only retreat occupies a gorgeous spot between Padstow and Newquay, with direct dune-side access to Porthcothan's sand and the South West Coast Path right on your doorstep. The handful of self-contained glamping units each come with ensuite bathrooms, kitchenettes and private fenced gardens – perfect for barbecue suppers after a day exploring the coast. A bus stop outside means you can hike one way and ride back, or venture further along the shoreline without needing the car.
When you're not walking, the local beach has tea rooms and a shop for essentials, while St Merryn (five minutes' drive) offers pubs and restaurants. A nearby farm hosts summer food and entertainment events, and with surf schools, cycling routes and watersports all close by, there's plenty to fill your days before retreating to your cosy coastal bolt-hole.

Lovely cottage, tasteful decor well, well equipped open plan kitchen with fab views from the first floor lounge. Very comfortable seating and TV area, Secure garden. Spectacular dog friendly beaches just a few minutes away. Friendly beach cafe and store for supplies. Sunnyridge proved the perfect choice for our family group and we hope to return again!

Our first stay in a Shepherds hut and it was excellent. Lovely accomodation in a perfect location with an easy walk to a beautiful beach. The hut was very clean, cosy and well equipped making a special stay just perfect. Thanks to Meg, a really great host.

We loved our stay at the Porthcothan Retreats Shepard’s hut. It is in a perfect location, very short walking distance to the beach and has everything you could possibly need. Our second time staying here and will definitely be back again.
