The Watch House

St Mawes curves around a working harbour on Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Watch House sits in the thick of it—a first-floor apartment within arm's reach of the waterfront, independent shops, cafés and restaurants. The village itself is small and walkable; a passenger ferry runs across to Falmouth from the quay, and boat trips leave regularly for the estuary and beyond. Trelissick House and Gardens is reachable by water or a short journey overland, popular for coastal walks and birdwatching.
The apartment sleeps six across three bedrooms: a super kingsize, a kingsize, and a bunk room. Two bathrooms (one with bath and shower, one with shower cubicle) mean no queuing. Downstairs there's a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, an open-plan living and dining space overlooks the harbour, with a well-stocked kitchen including electric oven, hob, air fryer, dishwasher and coffee machine—everything needed to cook or simply prepare breakfast before heading out. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One well-behaved pet stays free. The property is no-smoking throughout, and children under 5 are not accommodated. Note that there are four steps to the entrance.
Public parking is available locally at a charge. The Rising Sun pub is within a mile. A welcome pack arrives with your keys.

Ordered fish and chips from the takeaway and was greeted by the rudest scouser behind the counter who clearly couldn't handle the pressure taking orders from an 8 person deep que. Looking around the small group of people waiting patiently for their food you could see everyone was getting quite annoyed watching him march around his little space like he thought he was gordon ramsay, the only difference is ramsay barks at the staff not the customers. I was hoping the quality of the food would improve my experience, but upon opening the box I found a piece of fish that I wouldn't even call a fish finger it was that small along with the driest chips known to man. Absolutely shocking from start to finish.

Just had the most delicious meal at The Watch House in St Mawes. Food was fabulous, the Cod curry is the best. Staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit and not just the takeaway!

The food here was outstanding. Ive heard they recently changed chef and I have to say literally everything we ate was fantastic. I massively recommend the teriyaki octopus - incredible stuff. The staff were also very attentive and very charming. Particularly id like to point out Jasmine who was fantastic and very funny and charming. Lovely experience overall.

From the outside The Watch House doesn’t look hugely promising but all that changes when you walk in. Great seafood - the mussels and oysters were the plumpest and freshest we’ve had in this country. Atmosphere was great. Olivier’s service was attentive and impeccable.

Diners appreciate this restaurant for its fresh seafood, including good fish and chips, and the attentive and friendly staff.
Other reviews mention the food can be disappointing and service can be slow.
