Alderley House is a detached stone property built to withstand centuries in one of the Cotswolds' most photographed villages. The River Windrush flows through Bourton-on-the-Water, crossed by a succession of low bridges that have changed little in generations. The house stands within easy walking distance of the village centre, where cafes, shops and pubs line streets that have drawn visitors for decades.
The layout runs across two floors: ground level holds the living and dining room with an open fire, a kitchen fitted with a range cooker, and a utility room. Upstairs, four bedrooms each have their own shower room. Beds include a super king, two kingsize options, and configurations that work for families—one bedroom can be arranged as either a super king or two singles. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity and bed linen are included. The enclosed garden has a lawn, patios, furniture and a barbecue. Parking on site takes six cars. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking indoors.
The area suits walkers and cyclists who want to base themselves somewhere central—Blenheim Palace, Stratford-upon-Avon, and several castles are within driving distance. Locally, the Model Village and Birdland are popular with families. Coombe House stands nearby for those interested in the architecture of the period.
