Plovers Nest works well for families or groups of up to ten people who want space to spread out without sharing the property with other guests. The four bedrooms across three floors include a super king with ensuite on the ground floor, two singles and a family bunk room also on the ground floor, and a king with ensuite upstairs. There are three bathrooms between them, plus a separate toilet, and the layout means parents can supervise younger children easily. The open-plan living area on the first floor has a wood-burner and opens onto a balcony; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking rather than holiday shortcuts, with a dishwasher, electric oven and gas hob.
The property sits directly on Clearwater Lake within the Lower Mill Estate, a 450-acre nature reserve near Somerford Keynes. Beyond your own enclosed decking with garden furniture and a barbecue, the estate offers a heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi section, sauna, steam room, gym and tennis court, all shared with other residents. A children's play area is on-site. Essentials like electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included; you'll need to bring your own swimming towels. No smoking is permitted inside. The property suits families wanting a self-catering base with proper facilities nearby, rather than a remote retreat.

We had such a fun evening. We had some issues with our drinks order however we had a great waiter called Alex who dealt with it in a very polite and efficient manner. We were so happy with how quickly it was all resolved. Thank you for a great evening and a special thanks to Alex!

Highly recommend. Stayed at a cottage at Mill Villlage. Fabulous on all counts, second visit for me, both for family holidays. Facilities to suit all ages and abilities. Pools beautifully located for swimming lengths or dips with children. Spa relaxing, staff thoughtful and kind. Ballihoo food amazing, again staff friendly.

We had a family girls weekend here and it was stunning, the weather was perfect which was great for all the activities we did, yoga with Steph was amazing, and we hired the megaSUP which was hilarious - added bonus that none of us fell in! The whole area is clean and so beautiful, the lakes are so pretty with the swans ducks and geese passing by, it’s great for a relaxing weekend but also so many great activity options to ensure your time spent is fun! Also it was the nicest iced vanilla oat latte I’ve ever had!

Holiday lets are clean but tired, need a good lick of paint and refreshing. Outside decking needs good jet wash so not nice to sit out there. Ordering Kayaks is at your own risk, we booked 2 weeks before to be told they had run out and not much they could do, team didn’t seem phased by it, very frustrating. Balihoo is good service but slow, we were first table in at 12 but took 1 hour for food to arrive which was average and overpriced. Friday night the pizza shack had ran out within 1.5 hours. Facilities on site are good, decent range of activities just be mindful of the above.
