The Smithy Cottage

Gloucester sits on the edge of the Cotswolds, where stone villages and rolling farmland characterize the landscape. The Smithy Cottage is a converted barn sleeping eight, set on its own with a private garden and outdoor hot tub—the kind of base from which you can explore Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury and the walking trails that crisscross the region, or simply stay put for a few days of quiet.

Four bedrooms and three bathrooms mean there is genuine space: two king beds upstairs, a double, two singles, plus a ground-floor shower room and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The open-plan living area has a smart TV and doors onto the garden. The kitchen is fully fitted for self-catering, with a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. No smoking.

This suits families or groups wanting a countryside base with room to spread out, close enough to Gloucester and St Bartholomew's Church for day trips, but far enough into the Cotswolds that you feel properly away.
