About Coombe Abbey Hotel
Afternoon tea and a hearty breakfast are among the highlights at Coombe Abbey Hotel, where the restaurant and bar draw as much attention as the rooms upstairs. Expect proper cooked breakfasts and a spread of cakes and sandwiches for afternoon tea, served within a building that carries centuries of history in its walls.
The 119 rooms are individually styled rather than uniform, many making the most of the abbey's original features, and each comes with free WiFi as standard. Staff are on hand throughout via concierge services, ready to help with anything from local recommendations to arrangements for special occasions, and the hotel regularly hosts weddings in its grounds.
Outside, the gardens surrounding the hotel add to the sense of occasion, offering space to walk and take in the setting near Coventry in the West Midlands countryside. On-site parking is available, though it comes at an additional charge.
What guests say
The hotel is a fantastic old building in a great location. The rooms are very dated and feel tired and not actually conveniently arranged. I was there for a work trip and the WiFi is so bad in certain parts of the building that it was disruptive to the meeting. Strangely they've installed several express check in kiosks that aren't in keeping with the rest of the building and looks better suited to a budget hotel. Dinner service for the evening took 3 hours for some of my international colleagues. They waited 45 minutes between courses and 2 of them gave up waiting for dessert. The drinks at the bar were incredibly expensive which just smacks of greed. A pint of Guinness was £7.50 and a single shot was £5.50. The hotel benefits from having no nearby completion so is clearly capitalising on a captive audience. Car park fees were £18, again, this seems far more expensive than it should be. Overall the building itself is impressive which is why the score is a 3 and not a 2 but the hotel needs a bit of a rethink about pricing and what it's trying to be. I wouldn't go back and had I paid for the hotel myself I wouldn't feel like there was any value for money.

This is one of my happy places. I visit several times a year and it doesn’t disappoint. As soon as I drive up the breathtaking drive and see the stunning gardens and hotel, my shoulders relax and my smile appears. Very attentive, wonderful staff who are always on hand to help with cheerful smiles and attention to detail. I love the unique rooms full of character and charm. The grounds are absolutely stunning and a walk through them is an absolute must for all guests. Fantastic food and great wine list.

Went for 'Sunday Roast inspired afternoon tea' Set in a country park. Lovely location. Hotel is formed from an Abbey- hence the confession booth and pulpit in Reception! Garden room was light and decor suited the name. Food was very good with wide range of teas and coffees included. Would have preferred sweet elements to have been brought out after savoury as they had gone cold by the time we reached them. Cost relatively high but acceptable. Service excellent and staff attentive.

The perfect romantic getaway! A stunning hotel with beautiful grounds in perfectly kept condition with so much history! Reception staff are so friendly and the overall building will make you feel like you are in a movie! The rooms are so unique and interesting and spacious. My only complaint would be the restaurant. The food did not live up to the standard you would expect for a beautiful place like this. The food tasted at best like your local pub down the road. staff are very slow, we asked for a coffee from the manager and they forgot and went home. Service is very slow and food is not up to standard for this place at all. Other than that everythign else was perfect.
