Alan’s Cottage

Cockermouth sits on the edge of the Lake District National Park, with the town centre just a two-minute walk from Alan's Cottage. This makes it an oddly convenient base: you're surrounded by the Fells and close to Bassenthwaite Lake, yet within reach of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church is nearby, and Jenning's Brewery and Wordsworth House are among the local attractions.

The cottage itself is a two-storey property sleeping four. Downstairs there's a living room with a gas fire and television, plus an open-plan kitchen and dining area with patio doors leading to a small enclosed garden. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a shower room. The essentials are included: heating, electricity, bed linen and towels. You get private parking for one car and your own outdoor space.

The layout works for couples, groups of friends or families, though there's no smoking in the cottage. The town location means you can walk to an evening meal or morning coffee, then drive south into the Lakes proper within minutes.
