Ghillie Cottage occupies one of six apartments created from a former chapel, now arranged around a private courtyard off the main street. The conversion has left character intact—most notably a spiral staircase that connects the two floors—while the interior benefits from recent renovation. A ground-floor open-plan living and dining room flows into a modern fitted kitchen; upstairs are two bedrooms (one double, one twin, both with a TV) and a bathroom with bath and shower. The space sleeps four and comes with essentials including heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi.
The cottage takes its name from the River Derwent's fishing rights, which the owners permit guests to use with a valid National Rod Licence (details available on request). Those less interested in angling will find Cockermouth's town centre within easy walking distance, along with a pub roughly a mile away. A car parking space is included. One step leads to the entrance; note that the spiral staircase is narrow and steep. No smoking indoors.
