Branthwaite Cottages - The Long Barn

You enter The Long Barn into an open-plan ground floor where exposed stone walls and timber beams frame a living space with fireplace, dining area, and kitchen. Two bedrooms are on this level—the main with a kingsize bed and ensuite shower room, the second with zip-and-link single beds (request a superking configuration). A second full bathroom with bath and shower serves the whole property. Underfloor heating with individual room controls runs throughout, powered by a biomass boiler.

The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine mean you're not limited to basics. Essentials—bed linen, towels, wifi and heating—are all included, along with initial fuel for the multi-fuel burner. A drying room and outdoor tap make sense for muddy boots after fell walks. The walled garden has a patio, seating and barbecue; an electric car charging point is available at cost.

Roughton Gill valley surrounds the cottage, with the Caldbeck Fells beyond and the Cumbria Way cycle route starting nearby. Caldbeck village, three miles away, has traditional pubs and a café beside a waterwheel. Parking for two cars is on site. One dog is welcome. No smoking inside.
