You enter Castle Howe on the ground floor, where the living and dining areas are already set up and ready to use. The kitchen has electric cooking facilities and a utility room with a washer-dryer for longer stays. Upstairs, two bedrooms each have their own bathroom – the first with a kingsize bed and bath plus shower cubicle, the second with a double bed and shower cubicle. Both bathrooms have heated towel rails. Bed linen, electricity and Wi-Fi are included. A high chair is available if needed.
The cottage is detached and sits in Rosthwaite village at the foot of Borrowdale Valley, surrounded by the fell country of the Lake District. The garden is lawned with seating and furniture; a low wall runs along one edge. Parking is a permit space in the public car park. The Royal Oak Hotel is roughly a mile away. A shop and café operate seasonally 200 yards from the door. The area suits walkers and cyclists – bicycles can be stored in the porch – with Scafell Pike, Great Gable and the surrounding fells all within reach. No smoking inside the property; one well-behaved pet is welcome.
