High Lorton is a quiet Lake District village with a shop on the doorstep and walking country immediately beyond. Corner House, a detached Grade II listed cottage built 200 years ago, sits at the heart of it all. The property sleeps five across three bedrooms: a super king upstairs with its own bathroom, a double also with ensuite facilities, and a single on the ground floor. The two bathrooms both have electric showers and heated towel rails. One dog is welcome.
The ground floor holds the living room with a multi-fuel burner and Freeview TV, a kitchen and dining room (the latter spacious for cooking and eating), and a utility room with washer-dryer. A second multi-fuel burner and storage heaters warm the house; coal is provided. The kitchen is compact but equipped for five people to prepare meals, and streaming services can be cast to the television on wet days. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. There is parking for one car on site, and an EV charger.
The village shop is moments away, and the pub a 10-minute walk. From the doorstep, paths lead to walks and cycle rides through the quieter western lakes—Ennerdale is among the destinations within reach. No smoking inside.
