Rose Cottage is a single-storey conversion on a working farm near Carlisle, with a four-poster double bedroom and a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs, the whole ground floor is open plan—living area with woodburner and Smart TV, dining space with French doors onto a private patio, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, linen, towels and wi-fi all included, plus initial logs for the stove and a welcome pack on arrival.

The patio has garden furniture and a barbecue, and you have private parking for one car. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in a shared laundry room. The cottage sits within 500 acres of farmland grounds that guests can access. No smoking indoors. The building uses a natural spring water supply filtered on site.

This works well for a couple wanting somewhere quiet to base themselves in rural Cumberland, within reach of the Lake District and the Solway Firth coast. You're two miles from the owner's other properties on the same farm if you're travelling with friends.

We have only been here two days and I have to say that is brilliant. The owners are a lovely couple and nothing is to much trouble great location with stunning views. Love it.

We holidayed here back in 2011 and absolutely loved it there. Isabel and Alan were so lovely and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were treated to a lovely cream tea on arrival. We stayed in Rosedale Cottage which was perfect. I left a gift I made which was an embroidered heart with the name of the cottage and before we left Isabel ordered some more which I made and sent for each of the cottages. Thank you both for a lovely holiday and hopefully one day we will see you again. Love Helen Jane and family x
