The western edge of Corney Fell, dominated by Black Combe, opens up into countryside that stretches across the views from Foldgate. This refurbished farmhouse occupies a former working farm with its own courtyard, outhouses and stables. The building retains period character—flagged and wooden floors run through the rooms, beams cross the ceilings, and two fireplaces (one wood-burning, one open) anchor the spaces for colder months. Twelve guests fit across five bedrooms spread over three floors: a kingsize with ensuite on the first floor, a further kingsize with ensuite at the top of the house, a double, and two rooms sleeping two or four in singles and doubles. Four bathrooms include a jacuzzi bath. One dog stays free of charge.
The ground floor holds two separate sitting areas, a kitchen with two electric cookers and two fridge-freezers for large groups, and a utility room. Two decked areas face out over the grounds, and a grassed play area suits families. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen and towels—are included, along with wifi. Car parking for four sits on the property. Bootle town centre is a mile and a half away for shops and a café; a pub lies closer at a mile. The coast reaches just two miles distant, while Wastwater, Ennerdale and Coniston lakes sit within a 20 to 30-minute drive. Note that the stairs are steep and narrow in places, and the water supply comes from a borehole. No smoking throughout.
