About Captain's House Campervans
Lake District travellers seeking a quieter corner should point their motorhomes towards Captain's House Campervans, tucked onto a sandy beach at the national park's western edge. With distant views of Scafell Pike in one direction and the Irish Sea in the other – often gilded by spectacular sunsets – it's a properly scenic spot. Owners Luke and Sarah keep things peaceful with just a handful of landscaped gravel pitches, all with electric hook-up, water, and grey/black disposal (though there are no toilets, so you'll need to be self-sufficient).
The beach is right there for fishing, windsurfing or post-hike picnics, and barbecues and campfires are usually permitted. A treats stall sits about ten minutes' walk away, while proper meals mean a ten-minute drive to the nearest pub or Bootle village café. Fair warning: 4G signal is patchy out here, but that's rather the point.

£27.50 per night with EHU. All water services available. No other facilities on site. Very friendly welcome. Very short walk to beach. Amazing location. 2km walk to train station. Couldn’t find any shops etc nearby - but didn’t need anything. Very happy to stay again.

Quiet and small spot for 4/5 campervans. the pitches are nice and level with a bit of shelter from the wind with some grassy banks around them. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Electric hook up per pitch with shared water facilities at the entrance. Nice and easy to find when using Google maps.
