Gatra Farm Lodges - Blake Fell Lodge

Cumberland

Photo: Google Maps

Blake Fell Lodge comes fully equipped for a week away without the usual self-catering compromises. The kitchen has an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer-dryer, so cooking and laundry are straightforward. Bed linen, towels, wifi and heating are all included, along with logs for the wood burner. The single bathroom has a bath with shower over and heated towel rail. Three bedrooms—a double, a twin and a single—provide sleeping space for five people, each with its own television.

The main living area is open plan, with a wood burner, 32-inch screen, Freesat and a CD player for background music. Doors open onto an enclosed lawned garden with patio furniture, a charcoal barbecue and a fireplace. The property's particular draw is what lies beyond: a private hot tub for six, a sauna with its own shower room and toilet, and enough space to retreat outdoors in any weather. Parking for two cars is on site. A ramp provides access to the entrance, and the ground floor layout avoids stairs inside the lodge, though the garden itself has four steps.

Located a few miles from Loweswater and Ennerdale in the Western Lake District, this works well for families wanting more than a standard cottage, or couples after a break with genuine luxury extras. No smoking indoors.
