Otterbield

Cumberland

View on Google Maps

Keswick sits at the heart of the Lake District, making it an obvious base for fell walking, water sports and exploring the valleys. Otterbield is right in the thick of it—close enough to pop into town for supplies or a meal, far enough from the noise that an evening by the woodburner feels like a proper retreat. The house itself is built from local stone and spreads across three floors, giving groups and families room to spread out without feeling cramped.

Ground floor holds the main living and dining space, where the woodburner creates a focal point on cooler evenings. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly: electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, and a good fridge. Upstairs, four bedrooms accommodate seven people—two doubles, a twin and a single—served by two bathrooms. One has a bath as well as a shower cubicle; the other is shower-only. Heating, electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included. The enclosed garden with patio gives you outdoor space without faffing about with keys or worrying about neighbours. There's parking on the road outside. The house does not allow smoking.

Groups of friends tend to like the separate bathrooms; families with different schedules appreciate the extra toilets dotted through the building. A pub is less than a mile away on foot.
