Trevene

Buttermere sits at the heart of the Lake District, ringed by fells and two lakes of the same name. Trevene is a detached house in this village, set back from the road with mature gardens and private parking for four cars. The cottage sleeps 8 across four bedrooms: a kingsize, two doubles and a twin. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and shower, one a downstairs wet room.

The ground floor holds a kitchen and dining room with an Aga and electric cooker, a living room with a woodburner and large TV, a sun room overlooking the garden, and a study. Upstairs are the four bedrooms. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are included; the initial fuel for both the woodburner and open fire is also provided. The kitchen is equipped for cooking properly, and a travel cot and highchair are available if you ask. Sloping ground in the garden means it is not entirely level.

A pub lies within a mile. The location suits families and groups wanting countryside quiet rather than a bustling town, with red squirrels in the gardens and access to walking from the door.
