High Park
Cumberland

High Park is a converted barn at the end of a country lane in the Buttermere Valley, part of an 18th-century fell farm. The single bedroom has a kingsize bed, and the bathroom includes a bath with shower over. Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines a sitting area with a woodburning stove, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher. There's a secluded garden with patio furniture, and the property is yours alone.
Electricity, bed linen, towels, wi-fi and logs for the woodburner are all included. The approach involves an eight-foot-wide stone lane bordered by dry stone walls; the interior has open and steep spiral stairs. A pub sits half a mile away, and Loweswater village is within walking distance. The location opens onto the fells themselves—routes range from gentle lakeside walks to more demanding climbs like Melbreak. Note that only babies in arms are welcome.
