Cumberland
View on Google MapsCurlew Lodge is a single-storey cottage on a small farm site near Wigton, on the quieter edge of the Lake District National Park. You step straight into an open-plan living space where large glass doors lead out to a private garden area with seating and a barbecue. The room is bright and naturally lit, with a comfortable sofa facing a Freeview Smart TV. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, gas hob and microwave; the bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6in) and two bunks at the far end; the shower room has a cubicle shower with heated towel rail.
One person can park on site, and there is an electric car charging point available. The cottage is yours alone, though you share 3 acres of landscaped grounds and woodland with other properties—there is an unfenced stream 50 yards away. A private hot tub for four sits outside your lodge. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. A utility room (shared with other holiday homes) contains a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Travel cots and a highchair are available on request, and a welcome pack is provided on arrival.
The location suits families and couples looking for a Lake District base without the need to venture far into busier areas. Wigton itself is close by; the wider park and its quieter routes are nearby for walking and exploring.

Lovely clean campsite. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. We had pizzas delivered to our pitch which were very nice. The hot tub pitch with private decking area was fab. Gorgeous views. We had a peaceful stay and will definitely return.

This was our first trip camping with our kids and we absolutely loved it. The facilities at the site were great and all kept to a very good standard. They were very clean and we really enjoyed the added bonus of a fridge and freezer to store food and drink. We also liked that we could rent a fire pit and have a fire both nights to toast marshmallows with the kids. The little shop on site is great and well stocked with any essentials you may have forgotten. The site is a great base for exploring the local area. We drove down to Ullswater and spent the day exploring the waterfall and lake and also stopped at Pooley Bridge and Penrith. The site is big but never felt too busy or crowded. A lovely couple of days spent exploring a beautiful part of the country with the added bonus of some great weather!

Excellent site to visit if you like Cumbria. Really well run site and is excellently maintained. Varied selection of pitches from camping to full cottages (and everything in between) The facilities are first class, very spacious toilet / washing / shower facilities. Nice and quiet location but still easy to get to by road. Second visit here and will definitely be coming back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovely camping experience! We stayed on an electric tent pitch and had a fantastic time. The campsite was peaceful, calm, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless, which was really impressive. A special mention for the thoughtful extras — having a dishwasher and hand wash facilities available was a brilliant touch and not something every campsite provides. A small tip for future visitors: make sure you bring your groceries with you before arriving, as the nearest supermarkets are around 20–30 minutes away. Planning ahead will make your stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a well-maintained, peaceful campsite with excellent facilities. We would definitely recommend it!
