About Townstal Farmhouse

Townstal Farmhouse began life as a 16th-century farmhouse, and much of that character survives in its oak-beamed restaurant and bar, giving the place a solid, timbered feel that modern builds can't quite match. It sits within reach of Dartmouth, making it a useful base for exploring the wider South Hams.

Rooms are cosy and en-suite, with free WiFi and drinks available in room, and family rooms are on offer for those travelling with children, though this is adults-only accommodation overall. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden with outdoor seating for sitting out when the weather allows. Practical extras include 24-hour reception, luggage storage and free on-site parking, and pets are welcome.

The surrounding area suits those who like to be active outdoors, with cycling, walking, fishing, golf and watersports all nearby, alongside pubs, restaurants and entertainment for evenings out. It's a straightforward, characterful stopping point for anyone keen to explore Dartmouth and the Devon coast from a historic setting.

A really nice guest house within walking distance of Dartmouth although it's a steep walk up the hill on the way back. We stopped for two nights and found our room was very comfy, the staff were friendly and very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. A most enjoyable stay..

Really lovely, friendly good old fashioned B and B. Really cute building, impeccably clean, lovely comfy bed. Parking, which is incredibly handy in Dartmouth and very fairly priced, especially for Dartmouth. Lovely location just a short and very atmospheric walk to town although it is a big hill to get up. But lovely big hilly landscapes are surely why we are visiting Devon. Really friendly people who were very friendly and welcoming to both us and Doris, our welsh terrier. Great place.

Great welcome from Jean and all her staff. Fabulous breakfast, great selection, cooked well, and presented with a smile and a good chate. The information provided for getting around the town was very good. The rooms are comfortable very clean and the showers work well. 👌 the only downside would be its location. Being right at the top of the town, you'll need your walking boots and sticks if you attempt the climb back up. 😉
