Lace Cottage

Derbyshire Dales

Couples and small families will find Lace Cottage works well as a base for exploring Derbyshire. The 1830s lace runner's cottage sits in Ashbourne's town centre, where independent shops, cafes and dog-friendly pubs line the streets. Medieval alleyways and Georgian terraces are on the doorstep, and the countryside beyond offers everything from Dovedale to the Tissington Trail within a few miles.

Downstairs, the living room opens onto a patio and enclosed garden through glass doors, with the kitchen equipped for proper cooking—oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine all present. Upstairs, one bedroom has a king bed with its own shower room, while the second holds two single beds; the family bathroom has a bath with shower. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen and towels—are covered, along with wifi. A cot, highchair and stairgate are available for younger children. One dog stays free.

Ashbourne sits at the edge of the Peak District, within reach of Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and other major estates. Alton Towers is eight miles away. The town itself rewards an afternoon's wander, and walkers will find good routes immediately nearby.
