Spinney Cottage
Derbyshire Dales
Sheldon is a quiet village in the heart of the Dales, three miles from Bakewell and surrounded by working farmland and stone walls. Spinney Cottage sits at the centre of this landscape, a substantial property that began life around 1800 and has been thoughtfully extended to accommodate larger groups without losing its character. Exposed stonework and original beams run through the oldest rooms; a multi-fuel burner warms the main living space on colder days.
The main house holds three bedrooms and a games room across its floors—one bedroom has a zip-and-link bed that splits into singles if needed. All four bedrooms have their own shower or bath. Downstairs, a south-facing conservatory opens from the kitchen and is the obvious spot for breakfast or afternoon quiet time. A separate annexe a few steps away adds a fourth bedroom and a second living area, useful if the group wants some space from each other. The games room has a pool table and table tennis; a drying room is handy after outdoor walks. An enclosed garden with patio and seating areas runs to the rear, with a barbecue for summer cooking. Electricity, wi-fi, heating and bed linen are all included; the kitchen has everything needed for self-catering, from a range cooker to a dishwasher. Two cars can park on site. The property does not allow smoking.
