Open only during the school summer holidays, this pop-up site keeps things refreshingly simple – compost loos, a hot shower and an undercover washing-up area, all built from local Devon larch – while a playground keeps younger campers entertained. The level grass field welcomes tents, motorhomes and dogs, with campfires and barbecues adding to the back-to-basics charm.
Tucked down a quiet lane yet super-easy to reach, you're fifteen minutes from Jurassic Coast beaches, The Donkey Sanctuary and the pubs and shops of Colyton. Throughout summer, neighbouring Wiscombe Park hosts motor-racing days right opposite the entrance, and Sidmouth's music festivals bring extra buzz to the area. It's a brilliant family base that feels properly remote without sacrificing convenience.
