Photo: The Hideaway

Seaton sits on the East Devon stretch of the Jurassic Coast, a landscape of dramatic cliffs and shale beaches that draws walkers and geology enthusiasts year-round. The Hideaway is a detached two-storey cottage positioned to take advantage of this setting, with an enclosed front garden where you can sit with morning coffee before heading out to explore the coastline or the quieter villages inland.

Inside, the ground floor is arranged as a single open space for kitchen, dining and living, with a woodburner, Smart TV and comfortable seating. A bathroom and separate toilet are also downstairs. Upstairs, two bedrooms sleep four: one has a zip-and-link bed that can be split into singles, with its own en-suite shower; the second has two single beds. Both bathrooms have heated towel rails. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with a dishwasher, washing machine and everything needed to cook properly. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is private parking for three cars and a travel cot available if needed. One dog is welcome.

The cottage suits families wanting beach access and coastal walks without the bustle of larger resorts. No smoking inside.

Lovely staff and refreshments to be had here in sight of the cliffs and beach towards Seaton Hole on the coastal path.

Went for breakfast, staff were brilliant and helpful, food was delicious and served very hot. Views while you eat are amazing. Couldn't be happier.

On wet and miserable Sunday we found this welcoming cafe. The staff were lovely and found big enough table for our family of 6. The icecream milkshakes and what a treat of Bailey hot chocolate. I would imagine on a nice day it would be perfect for lazy lunch. Very family friendly
