About Five Trees Camping

Just a ten-minute stroll from Dawlish Warren's family-friendly sandy beach, Five Trees Camping occupies 1.5 acres of grassland on Devon's south coast – perfectly positioned for bucket-and-spade days, coastal path rambles and wildlife-spotting in the nearby 500-acre nature reserve. The enthusiastic owners describe their approach as "old-school camping with all the modern amenities", which translates to spacious grass pitches (electric and non-electric) served by clean, well-maintained toilet and shower blocks with baby-changing facilities. Dogs are welcome year-round, provided they're kept on leads.

Guests consistently praise the friendly staff for their local knowledge, and the location delivers easy access to local bike paths, Dawlish town (a mile away for supplies and takeaways), and Dawlish Warren station for car-free exploring. Exeter and Dartmoor are both within a short drive. Gas and electric barbecues are permitted – though charcoal ones aren't – making evenings under canvas all the more appealing.

We stayed at Five Trees during our very first holiday to Devon. The location is great, there's a bus stop right outside, the train station is just a short walk down the hill along with the beach and the farm shop a little further down is great. Its a small campsite with no entertainment or anything like that BUT our girls have made more friends and had more fun than they have on larger sites. The pitch sizes are a good size. There were some huge 8 man tents on the site with room still to park the car. The shower/toilet block is small but very clean with a separate space to wash your dishes. Thanks for a great stay!

Very basic campsite, not in particularly friendly for kids. Pitches are quite a bit smaller i. comparison to other campsites we have been in. Showers and toilets were OK, kept clean most of the time, but the water in the shower were between warmish to cold. Good space to wash the dishes. Good location if you want near proximity to the beach, but very close to a busy road, so not a quiet and relaxing campsite.

If you are after simplicity, cleanliness and a brilliant host this is your campsite. It has no frills and is beautifully basic, but the pitches were nice and big, the site was tidy and the washing up and toilet/shower facilities were lovely and clean. The only one thing I would suggest is maybe a bigger toilet block and more washing up sinks for next season. ☺️
