About Harford Bunkhouse and Camping

Kayakers, canoeists, families and groups have all been known to pitch up at this friendly working farm on Dartmoor's southern edge, where the main sounds you'll hear are bleating sheep and birdsong rather than traffic. The site keeps things simple – non-electric grass pitches with decent facilities – but its real draw is the location, perched right on the national park with miles of bridleways, moorland routes and footpaths radiating out in every direction. Climbers, mountain bikers and watersports enthusiasts are well served, and there are riding schools in nearby Ivybridge for those wanting to explore on horseback.

Campfires are allowed (kept off the ground, and check with the owners first), and dogs are welcome year-round on leads. Ivybridge itself, a mile and a half away, has pubs, a supermarket and a well-rated restaurant. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch tired in places, but the welcome is warm and the setting hard to beat for anyone after a peaceful Dartmoor base camp.

We made use of the camping pitch up area and this campsite was everything we needed. It was lovely and quiet with loads of room to pitch up in a beautiful location. The facilities were clean and provided all we needed with a special mention of the hot showers. Julie was a great host, helpful and friendly- we would definitely come back! Thank you.

We camped here, beautiful situation right at the edge of the moor and great facilities including a covered drying area for wet gear. Look forward to returning 😊

I would advise people to check the details of precisely what will and will not be provided, and enquire about the level of cleanliness that you should expect from the cabins, to avoid disappointment. You may have to climb over a fence to close your cabin window from the outside. Soap at toilet sinks would be a good idea too, every dispenser was empty and liquid hand soap bottles were empty too.

Real working farm, lovely quiet location. The best hot showers I've had in 20 years of bunkhouse or camping. It's standard kitchen and sleeping conditions with plastic mattresses (been in better for the same price, stayed in worse for less)
