About Higher Moorlands Farm

Perched on a hilltop at the head of Devon's Otter Valley, Higher Moorlands is gloriously, unapologetically farmy. Sheep and cattle graze the fields, pigs root about, and you can buy the farm's own meat, cider and vegetables from the honesty shop. The camping meadow—which doubles as a hay field—offers acres of grassy space for children to run free, yet pitches are kept to a small number, protecting both your privacy and the environment. Campfires crackle under starry skies, and on clear evenings you might watch the moon rise over Hartridge Common.

Facilities are simple but well-kept: composting loos with recycled paper, two hot showers, eco-friendly washing-up stations and a communal freezer. The real draw is the space, freedom and genuinely inclusive atmosphere—the friendly owners want everyone to feel at ease, regardless of background. A big annotated map details local walks, and it's about 35 minutes' drive to Sidmouth, Seaton or Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast.

Lovely small campsite, good facilities with compost toilets and nice hot showers. Beautiful location with great views, and very quiet. Dog friendly, but must be on lead as its a working farm with livestock.

Currently here for just one night on our way to Beautiful Days, and it’s the perfect place to unwind. Beautiful views, brilliant shower (better than most hotels), generally wholesome vibes. Will absolutely be back.

Here for 5 nights. Amazing place, beautiful rolling views and so peaceful. Off the beaten track, but close to Honiton should you need anything. Hardly anyone here... 😍 Great hot showers, and clean compost toilets! I love that there are no 'rules' signs anywhere.. Very relaxing place, owners are friendly and around should you need help. Highly recommend this place, will definitely return! Thank you. 🙏

If you want total isolation, then this could be the place for you. Nobody else there, when I was there, so it was just me, in a field... Nothing wrong with that, just not what I was after at this point in time, so for me, I didn't really like it and moved on to Dartmoor after one night only. You may well like it, if that's what you want.
